Shorenstein Properties' First & Main building, Portland's first new office tower since 2000, is 78 percent preleased thanks to leases by Federal agencies.

The IRS, DEA, and armed forces recruiting are among the agencies taht wil llease over 265,000 square feet of the new building, scheduled for an official opening today.

All of the building's tenants are federal agencies displaced by the planned refurbishment of the Edith Green-Wendall Wyatt building. That $133 million green retrofit of the aging federal building is being paid for with money from $787 billion-dollar economic stimulus package passed by Congress and signed into law by Obama in February 2009.

Two units of the IRS, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Veterans Benefits Administration and Armed Forces recruiting offices will collectively lease more than 265,000 square feet in the new building.
