Incumbents fare well in Oregon House and Senate primaries

Incumbent Republican Representatives Bob Jenson of Pendleton and Greg Smith of Heppner were two of many incumbent Oregon representatives to win theirĀ  primaries last night.

Anti-tax groups and Oregon GOP leadership opposed the incumbents' races, as both Senators supported tax increases on high-earners last year.

Voters may be cranky with incumbents this year, but they didn't take their anger out on those running for re-election to the Oregon House and Senate.

Democrats currently hold a supermajority, which gives them a three-fifths vote and allows them to pass their priority bills without challenge. Republicans will try to chip away at the majority and say they are confident they can pick up seats.
