Twilight fever hits PDX

Local businesses enjoy the "Twilight effect" of tourism based upon the popular vampire film series, while rumors spread of a possible Portland location for the next film.

[Susan Haley, spokesperson for the Governor's Office of Film & Television] says the "Twilight" effect has had a sturdy afterlife for Oregon businesses, towns and schools that served as movie locations. In Oregon, the production spent well over $20 million. "That's a wonderful impact, but there's also been residual tourism," she says. "People continuously go to places where the movie shot. These locations are just so important to the fan base."

To hear some Oregon business owners tell it, "Twilight" is the sensation that will not die.
