Georgia-Pacific, Clatsop County's largest employer, will lay off 15 workers starting this week at its Wauna Mill.

Over the past year, the mill has taken workers out of their daily duties and assigned them to job training or allowed them to take vacation as production work at the mill has slowed and fewer people were needed to keep operations going day to day.

Last year, Ward reported the company's bath tissue business was steady but sales of other products had fallen. The mill produces bath tissue, napkins and paper towels for brand names including Brawny, Sparkle, Angel Soft and Quilted Northern.
