Speaking to reporters a week after deciding to save its Portland plant, executives from Daimler Trucks North America say they can't make promises about keeping it open.

Martin Daum, the company's new president and chief executive based in Portland, told The Oregonian during the Webcast that the decision to give the plant a "second chance" was the most difficult call he made during his first 100 days on the job...

At Wednesday's news conference, Daum and Andreas Renschler, head of Daimler Trucks and a member of German parent company Daimler AG's board, discussed prospects for the truckmaker hit by the global recession.
