Created at Portland bike shop Microfiets, the Bike Bar serves up beer from Hopworks Urban Brewery and is getting an enthusiastic response from Portlanders.

The Bike Bar is purely Portland because you can stand around a bar made of recycled wood -- reclaimed from the renovation of the Hopworks building -- and sip a cold Hopworks beer, poured from one of two taps whose handles incorporate jewel-like rear hubs from Chris King and Shimano, both of whom donated parts to the project. (Donations make the total cost elusive, but don't expect much change from a $5,000 bill.)

"We've gotten just amazing response from this bike," Microfiets owner Phillip Ross said. Servers at Bikeportland.org crashed last week as people clamored to see the bike; humorist Dave Barry posted a picture on his blog as the perfect choice for people who like pizza, beer and exercise.
