UFC president Dana White expressed disappointment at the turnout of last weekend's UFC event - headlined by Gresham fighter Randy Couture - but the pay-per-view still brought in 16,088 fight fans and $1.92 million in ticket sales - among the highest-earning events at the Rose Garden.
"We should have come in here at $350, $400 for the top price, and we would have sold this place out and this place would've been rockin' tonight," White said.
The arena was rockin' nonetheless, said Chris Oxley, general manager of the Rose Quarter. Oxley confirmed that the event, headlined by Northwest-native fighter Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, ranked in the top-five range in ticket-money generated for one-day events in the arena's 14-year history. Oxley didn't include Trail Blazers games but did include such events as boxing matches and a Rolling Stones concert.
