Businesses like Mt. Bachelor and Deschutes Brewery are among those that have stepped up their sponsorships of the Jeld-Wen Tradition, while others are reducing theirs or dropping out altogether.
Banners, signs and booths are already set up, ready for the hordes to come through so companies can spread their messages and get a little attention. In a sour economic climate like this, some companies have dropped their sponsorships or reduced them. Others, particularly local businesses, have shown a new interest in the event, the exposure it can offer, and the tourism it will drive into Central Oregon.
“Like most businesses we have been impacted by the economy, and many golf tournaments as well as other sporting events have seen reduced sponsorship revenue, attendance and participation,” Mike Galeski, the managing director of Peter Jacobsen Sports and executive director of the Jeld-Wen Tradition, wrote in an e-mail.
