Boeing profit surges 52%

Forbes: The aerospace and defense company reported $22.04 billion in second quarter revenue.

Net income surged 52% to $1.65 billion, resulting in earnings per share of $2.24 — a figure that easily beat the $2.02 analyst consensus. Excluding special items — like a $272 million after-tax charge related to additional work the company needed to do on one of its tanker programs — net earnings came in at $2.42 per share, up from $1.67 per share in the year-ago quarter.
