Salon.com: Memoir reveals Navy SEAL Kristen Beck's, formerly Chris Beck, transition from male to female.

The 2011 repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” ended the military’s official policy of discriminating against gays and lesbians in the armed services, but a ban on transgender service members remains in place, meaning that trans men and women are still barred from serving.

Hello
I am an English lady and I have read an interview today of Kristen Beck.
Foremost, this lady is extremely brave in deciding enough was enough and making that final decision to start living her life for her.
I have a very good friend who made a choice similar to Kristens and I appreciate the shocking abuse she has suffered every single days since then.
Kristen has brought this to the public eye and made people face the fact that this is nothing to do with being gay or effeminate or a acting on s whim but a very real fact of life that some people are born in the wrong sex.
Anyone who chooses to ridicule a transgender or any person who does not fit into their personal view of what's normal really should take time out to reflect exactly why it upsets them and to learn a lot about the matter before making uninformed, poss ibly ignorant comments about people and situations they have no experience or knowledge of to comment upon.
Kristen,I really admire you,if you come over to the UK you would be very welcome in my home.I very much hope that you continue to live a long happy life and continue to see a growing change for the better in life for everyone who decides to make the very brave decision to publicly live their lives the way they want to.And how many of us can say that?
With much admiration and my very best wishes.
Wendy
