Farm revenues may be soaring statewide, but not all farmers are raking it in this year.

Concerned about a proliferation of wind farms just small enough to fall outside of its jurisdiction, the state Department of Energy has notified Harney County that it wants to examine several recently approved wind-generation projects.

State energy officials have approved a plan that would make Gilliam and Morrow counties in northeastern Oregon home to the world’s largest wind farm.

A Boardman tree grower has received $250,000 from state lottery funds to build and purchase parts for a state-of-the-art sawmill in Morrow County, a project that’s expected to bring 85 permanent full-time jobs to the area.
