Megan J. Crowhurst
Megan joined Bullard Law in 2014 after moving from Chicago to Portland. Megan has performed comprehensive work in the areas of federal and state family and medical leave, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and wage and hour laws. She represents employers in all types of labor and employment litigation and provides practical advice and training to large and small companies and non-profit organizations on workplace conduct.

While in Chicago, Megan was selected as one of the Illinois Rising Stars in Employment Litigation by Super Lawyers in 2012 and 2013. She has since been named a 2015 and 2016 Super Lawyers Oregon Rising Star in Employment and Labor Law. Megan also sits on the board of the Federal Bar Association, Oregon Chapter, and is an active member in the Gus J. Solomon Inn of Court.

Before starting law school, Megan was involved in politics and served as a White House staffer during the Clinton Administration.

Megan graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and University of Washington School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree.

Liani J. Reeves
Liani focuses her legal practice on providing employment advice and litigation defense to public and private sector clients.  She is admitted to practice law in the State of Oregon and District of Columbia.

Liani joined the firm in 2015 after more than a decade of public service, during which she handled some of the State of Oregon’s most high-profile matters.  Before joining Bullard Law, she served as General Counsel for the Office of the Governor.  During her four years as General Counsel, Liani served as chief lawyer to the Governor, advising on a wide range of complex legal issues, including employment, public transparency, First Amendment, government ethics, tribal, and public safety policy matters.  Prior to being appointed General Counsel, she served as an Assistant Attorney General and Deputy Chief Trial Counsel at the Oregon Department of Justice.  At the Department, she advised state agencies and officers on employment matters and served as defense counsel for the State of Oregon.  During her time with the Department, Liani successfully resolved hundreds of cases pre-trial and obtained favorable jury verdicts for her clients.  

Liani’s reputation as a lawyer and community leader precedes her time at Bullard Law.  She has been recognized by business publications, local, state, and national bar organizations, and other groups for her commitment to Oregon’s business development and growth and to the community.  Liani is the past recipient of The Portland Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” Award and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s “Best Lawyers Under 40” Award.  In 2011, Liani was named the 2011 Daily Journal of Commerce’s “Up & Coming Lawyer of the Year.” Liani is the immediate past president of the Oregon Asian Pacific American Bar Association and a past chair of the Oregon Minority Lawyers Association.  She recently began serving a four-year term on the Oregon State Bar Board of Governors.

Liani earned her bachelor’s degree from Willamette University and her law degree from Willamette University College of Law.  Liani is a proud Willamette Bearcat and remains involved as a mentor and volunteer.

Daniel L. Rowan
Dan joined Bullard Law in 2012 and is admitted to practice in Oregon.  His practice focuses on traditional labor law.  He frequently represents client during collective bargaining, labor arbitration, and unfair labor practices cases, and union representation.  Dan also advises clients on a variety of labor and employment matters and leads training sessions for employers and industry groups.  

Before starting his law career, Dan worked as a poker dealer for a few years after earning his undergraduate degree. Dan also took a position as a dealer supervisor at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, where Dan gained valuable management experience in what truly is a high-stakes environment. Dan’s experience in the poker world translates to his current practice by allowing Dan to evaluate challenging situations quickly and arrive at strategic solutions.   

Dan graduated from University of Oklahoma (cum laude) in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Letters.

Kara Backus
Kara joined Bullard Law in 2015 and is admitted to practice in Oregon and California. Kara works with employers exclusively in the areas of employee benefits and executive compensation. She has experience with qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefit plans, executive compensation issues, and the employee benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions.

Kara works with clients to design and draft benefit plans, to monitor compliance with new legislation and regulatory guidance under the Internal Revenue Code and ERISA, and to interact with the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor regarding plan issues. Kara also advises clients on COBRA and HIPAA issues, fiduciary responsibility, and prohibited transactions.

As a member of the benefits community, Kara volunteers her time as a member of the Oregon Retirement Savings Board and as the immediate past president of the Portland Chapter of the Western Pension & Benefits Council.

Kara graduated from Amherst College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and German, and from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 2008 with a Juris Doctor degree.

Benjamin P. O’Glasser
Ben joined the firm in 2014. Ben serves public and private sector employers in employment, labor and benefits law matters. Ben’s work includes advice and litigation regarding wrongful termination and discrimination, as well as advice and arbitration on labor contract interpretation and administration matters.
 
Ben is an experienced litigator with substantial trial experience, including over 30 jury trials.  Before he was a lawyer he held a variety of jobs and understands the realities of managing a workplace. Today he uses that experience to help clients avoid and defend lawsuits.  Beginning his legal career as as a prosecutor, Ben learned how to analyze and present the facts of each case, and saw first-hand how cases can dramatically change when you ask the right questions. Immediately before joining Bullard, Ben worked at a large national firm where he developed a general civil litigation practice, with a particular focus in the areas of legal ethics, professional responsibility, and risk management. 
 
Ben graduated from University of Chicago (with honors) in 2004, and University of Pennsylvania Law School (cum laude) in 2007.
