PORTLAND, OR (October 30th, 2015) – Leaders from Oregon businesses, schools, nonprofits, and public agencies will gather on November 10th at Revolution Hall in Portland Oregon to make a shared commitment to improve the health of all Oregonians. Today, among US states, Oregon ranks 27th in the Gallup Healthways Well-being Index. Oregon Healthiest State partners intend to change that.

Oregon employers have an important stake – and leadership role – in better health for their employees and communities. Healthy employees are happier, more reliable, and more productive. Oregon Healthiest State is engaging business and community leaders in finding ways to promote better community and employee health. This event is an opportunity to learn why we are all leaders in health and what we can do that will make a meaningful impact.

At the event, Dr. Joe Robertson, President of Oregon Health & Science University will outline the State of Health in Oregon. Successful strategies and bright spots from throughout the state will be shared including:

  • Oregon State University president, Ed Ray will moderate a panel of community leaders who are working to change their built and social environments so that the healthy choice is easier.
  • A-dec CEO Scott Parish, will invite all businesses to join an emerging industry-wide commitment to make it easier for employees to make healthy choices
  • Oregon Health Authority Director, Lynne Saxton will moderate a panel discussing collective impact efforts addressing the state’s most pressing health issues

As we move into the next state budget cycle, Oregon continues to spend a large share of resources on healthcare. Healthier Oregonians reduce healthcare costs while boosting public revenue through greater economic productivity.

It’s time for all of us to recognize our role as leaders in health. Please join us on November 10th by registering at: http://summit.orhealthieststate.org/2015
