RE: Big Pharma Scare

First hand I have seen the doctors pull my mother offer medication in the hospital to "Speed Up" her demise. It was as ruthful as it gets. This is how the medical system works in WI. In other states as well. I know and have heard facts that Marijuana in different strains can and has shrunken tumors in lungs and cured ADD and helped children speak again. So.. Big Pharma tied into the Government lobbyist Wall Street Profits want no part of something that will take away from them. In WI. people actually take their pets antibiotics etc. because they don't want the docs/government tied into Big Pharma to walk them down the chemo highway and pain killer roads. Not to mention all the other "Synthetic" drugs that help them get their faster. It is a shame.. because now they have some strange law here about ID checks and reporting when you get pet medication. It absolutely.. has nothing to do with our best interest. It has to do with a money loss/patient/cu stomer loss of revenue for them. When my mom was slowly dying she was no longer useful to them. She could not pay her bills or pay into the economy. One doc asked us here how far we are going to take this right before then pulled her off every medication including "Marinol" that helped her eat foods again and did stimulate her appetite. The hospital said they could not get this drug to give her so.. decided against her POA that they would not activate on purpose to have full control over the decisions to end her life and to get a court order to get into her bank account for past due bills prior to her death. Which is all they could do, not after. So.. they did this all and tried. They send certified letters to try to get hold. Luckily my mother had me on her account and I was able to close out the bank account. I called them greedy bastards and said they are going to hell. The Attorney told me they can't get a penny after she passed and they did't. God took her sooner so they would not take hold of money she wanted to go to me. This is our medical system that too many people put faith in and trust. Medical insurance is nothing more then a scam. There is no cure for cancer that is synthetic. Apricot seeds that the Hopi Indians use has been proven they don't get cancer. That is the cure. Marijuana is a cure and a pain reducer. Not the Morphine and Deloted that kills you and stops their heart. My mother was not allowed to tell me good bye because of this "Corruption"> In WI. I was told by an Attorney that the doctors and staff always are found right no matter what they do or what medical mistakes they make. There is absolutely no respect here for patients and the POA does not "Really" exist here. It is a smoke screen to get you to trust them. I will never trust a doctor again. I am all about and for alternative medicine and rather have bamboo shoots stuck under my finger nails at home. then to allow them an insurance card that basically gives them full access to walk me down the chemo highway and decide along with the insurance companies when I am going to die and when I can't pay I am nothing to them anymore. Its the biggest scam there is. People need to take back their power and realize what is really happening here and why. Unless you want to die an earlier death. In WI. 76 is considered enough time on the planet. It is not about saving lives or helping those live with cancer. It is about all the money they can get and drain from your insurance then your bank account. Sick World We Live In. I will take Marijuana any day over an insurance card. The less insurance you have or none. They won't keep or do crap to you and will send you on your way. They won't radiate you until you get cancer either. Its better to be un insured. You will live longer!

hate to say it but here's the facts, people that sell and grow drugs spend money which in turn does help the economy they don't hoard it or spend it over seas. True legalization will make money but not in the broad spectrum. government makes tons off of illicit drug seizures fines etc. Drug dealers make money selling it, and growers make money growing it. This is more money then legalization could ever do. The government will not collect the same amount they collect now if it were taxed plain and simple. Growers wont make as much if it were taxed as well, quality will go down and it will not longer be medicine just as alcohol after prohibition isn't prescribed anymore. Hate it or like it this is the truth.

the legalization will not help oregons economy at all it will just transfer the money made now to the government and few individuals. People like it or not that sell illegal substances buys stuff pay bills buy cars houses food and support the economy. you take that money and give it to the government to squander away and give it to fewer people the economy gets worse simple economics. Its a complete myth brought up by those who want to monopolize on the drug trade that legalizing marijuana will help us. IT WONT

I agree that this was a great in depth article. My only quibble is that I do not see pro-marijuana advocates as seeing the 'epidemic' differently. Some of us also see the troubling rise in crime associated with illegal marijuana. This will be cleared away when it is legalized. Just like it did when alcohol was legalized. The United States incarcerates more of it's citizens than any other country on Earth. Think about that for a second...then weigh in your mind what is more damaging to our community and our country: thousands of people smoking marijuana freely or thousands of people being put in prison. In my mind it really comes down to that choice. The imperfect legalization or the completely flawed incarceration strategy...that we've been trying for decades and obviously hasn't worked. Thank you, Oregon Business, for your well thought out article.

Stop wasting all that taxpayer money. Just make it legal but control it like Alcohol. NO smoking and driving. You go to jail. No smoking at work. Can't drink at work, huh ? Make the rules the same for both Booze and Pot. If you want to grow it for home use, buy a license at a fair, low price with restrictions on the amount you can grow. Maybe 3 plants a year with X amount of finished pot at your home. If you want to sell it. Buy a license at a higher price and tax the income like any other earned income. Break the rules. Make it a measure 11 Crime. Go to jail....Stop making this such a big deal. Come on Oregon, benefit from it.

I just moved into a brand new high rise in downtown, and although I don't care if other people toke it up, my hallway smells like pot all the time and last night, with the window open the smell literally filled up my room. If it were legal I honestly think I wouldn't care. As it is, right now I feel like the cops could show up in our tony apt building any second, and I also find it difficult to explain to my children. "Gee, that smells like pot," they exclaim. I tried claiming it was just a candle, but they weren't buying it. This situation has to be fixed somehow.
