State We're In: Freight transportation levels out

STATEWIDE State tax receipts from trucking employment /busines listings fell 11.6% in 2009, but gained 4.3% year-to-date as of July. Trucking is projected to grow 2.1% annually in Oregon through 2035, per ODOT’s recent Oregon Rail Study, while air, water, rail and pipeline freight modes are projected to increase 3.6%, 1.7%, 1.5% and 0.7%, respectively. Top rail freight commodities in 2007 were lumber/ wood products, farm products and chemicals.
