Port regains a little buoyancy

Commerce at the Port of Portland sank along with the rest of the economy. Container traffic fell 33% and auto imports crashed 46% in 2009 versus 2007. Larger ports fared better, with L.A. and Seattle losing only 20% of their containers in the same period. On the bright side, in the first four months of 2010, calls by vessels rose 6%, auto imports grew 10% and shipping containers increased 1.5%, versus 2009.
