Weyerhaeuser has agreed to sell for an undisclosed sum its worldwide composite panels business, including six particleboard mills in the United States, to Canada-based Flakeboard Company Ltd. Weyerhaeuser employs 4,500 people in Oregon, 73 at its west Eugene panels mill and 214 at its Albany panels mill, both of which are part of the sale. Officials hope to close the deal by the end of the second quarter of this year.
