Prominent Oregon business family Ken and Joan Austin have unveiled plans to build a 1,291-home community, Springbrook, on 450 acres on the north side of Newberg. Plans also include an 85-room resort hotel and spa on land already zoned for commercial use adjacent to the community, a working vineyard, commercial space and a train depot for possible future use with a proposed streetcar between Newberg and Lake Oswego. Springbrook Properties hopes to break ground next summer.

The American Basketball League (ABL) hoped to leverage the success of the 1996 USA women’s national team at the Atlanta Olympics — much like USA Soccer is now leveraging the U.S. Women’s National Team’s victory in the World Cup.
