Correction: In the August issue of Oregon Business, the print version of Oregon's Public Companies list inadvertently omitted PW Eagle, which moved its headquarters in Eugene in 2004 and is ranked no. 16 in this Web version of the list.  As a result companies ranked 17-61 in the printed version have all moved down one rank.

GLOSSARY OF TERMS
EPS Earnings per share Fully diluted earnings per share.
P/E Price/earnings ratio Price of a stock at fiscal year end divided by its earnings per share.
D/E Debt-to-equity ratio Total liabilities, not just the long-term debt, divided by shareholder’s equity and expressed as a percentage.
ROE Return on equity Amount (percentage) earned on a company’s shareholder investment. Income divided by shareholders’ equity as of the fiscal year end.
ROI Return on investment Amount (percentage) earned on a company’s total capital. Income divided by total assets as of the fiscal year end.
MARKET VALUE Figured by multiplying the number of shares outstanding by the closing stock price as of Dec. 31, 2005.

My daughter turned 18 last week, and for her birthday I got her a Car2Go membership. Not to label myself a disruptor or anything, but it felt like a groundbreaking moment. The two of us, mother and child, were participating in a new teen rite of passage: Instead of handing over the car keys, I handed over a car-sharing card — with the caveat that she not use the gift as her own personal car service.

The big news at Oregon Business is we’re getting a ping pong table. After reading the descriptions of the 2015 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon, a disproportionate number of which feature table tennis in the office, I decided it was time to bring our own workplace into the 21st century. It was a tough call, but it’s lonely at the top, and someone has to make the hard decisions.

Since then, the company has opened a factory on Swan Island and a sleek new headquarters in the Pearl District.
