Washington County’s Board of Commissioners and the Hillsboro City Council unanimously approved a $25.95 million tax deal for Genentech, a San Francisco biotechnology company that plans to build a packaging facility in Hillsboro later this year. The deal gives the company a 15-year break on property taxes. Genentech is being heralded as the next Intel despite recent news of layoffs at the semiconductor giant a company poised to add jobs in Oregon instead of California. The company will use the facility for filling and packaging commercial biotechnology therapeutics. Genentech could fill 300 new jobs iin Oregon by 2015.
