BY BRANDON SAWYER Air travel in Oregon has gotten more efficient — and crowded — with leaner operations despite more passengers. PDX commercial flights fell about 13% over the past decade while accommodating a 17% boost in passengers. Part of the reason may be an 84% decrease in charter flights and an 86% drop in their passengers, who have likely shifted to airlines. Meanwhile, PDX’s international passengers surged almost 60%. Slimmer operations are also evident at Oregon’s biggest regional airport in Eugene, where they fell 36% for November year-to-date while passengers increased 39%. Medford and Redmond, especially, have also enjoyed higher passenger volumes.
