State tax receipts collected from truckers jumped 25.3% August year-to-date. In 2010, they grew 6.4% to $229.5 million, but were still way below 2007’s $252.7 million peak after barreling downhill 14.6% in 2008 and 2009. Trucking accounted for 68.8% of the value and 81.2% of the weight of freight originating in Oregon during 2007 when a total value of $146.9 billion and 184.7 million tons was shipped, less than 2% of the U.S. total.
