Gap between optimists and pessimists widens

The mood remains gloomy for the 606 respondents in our survey this month. By a large majority, they say things are headed in the wrong direction, with the gap between the optimists and the pessimists widening since 2008. Respondents' opinion of the Legislature's performance is not much better. The chart ranking the performance of the current and previous governors shows John Kitzhaber with similar rankings to Ted Kulongoski in the middle of his first term. The survey was conducted in late July by research partners CFM Strategic Communications.
