Wind energy strains limits

Power grids need to expand in order to handle the wind projects around the state.

Wind-energy projects are popping up successfully thoughout the state, but the current electric grids won't be able to handle the power without expansion.

It won't be cheap, or without controversy.

More than half of Oregon is public land that Oregonians value for recreation, unobstructed vistas and habitat for sensitive species. And the cleared corridors that accommodate such transmission lines cut a wide swath.
