Lake Oswego boosts biz


City officials and business leaders are taking steps to keep local business alive.

Lake Oswego has $558,000 set aside this year for economic development programs, and business leaders have formed an alliance advising the city on how to support local business.

Together, the city and the chamber are conducting three market research studies that will conclude in October and will hopefully help the new manager pull together a plan, said Jerry Wheeler, chamber CEO.

Both initiatives have been sparked by the downturn in the economy, but business leaders have mostly positive perspectives on the present condition of the Lake Oswego business community.
