The Portland Timbers’ refurbished Jeld-Wen Field earned a silver LEED rating.

Jeld-Wen’s green touches include energy-efficient lighting and low-flow plumbing fixtures, recycling stations and food-waste composting programs, subsidized mass transit programs and bicycle racks for attendees, along with the liberal use of green-certified materials and equipment.

“The challenge we face is taking an 85-year-old facility and transforming it into a leading example of efficient use of resources,” said Ken Puckett, the stadium’s senior vice president of operations, in a statement. “We are proud to have achieved LEED Silver certification, and we will continue to identify ways to increase efficiency in all areas of our operations and make an even greater impact.”
