A new consulting report finds that the Oregon State Hospital has seven problems preventing reform.
The report is based on interviews and surveys from employees. The seven problems identified include:
-A general lack of accountability.
-No shared vision for the future or “what good looks like.”
-Lack of trust and fear of retribution.
-Ambiguity about roles and responsibilities.
-Poor communication.
-Lack of training.
-Separate agendas “at some levels and in some functional areas.”
Many of the institutional problems are “common ills for complex, diverse, highly visible organizations,” according to the report.
