80s Rock boosts county fair attendance

Douglas County Fair attendance totaled 74,811 this year, up 15,811 from 2009.

A lineup that included the Scorpions and Billy Idol ensured this boost for the county fair.

The Scorpions set a record for the largest crowd to watch a Douglas County Fair concert, with 12,500 people coming to see the band at the PremierWest Bank Amphitheater. That shattered the previous mark of 11,000 people who attended Poison’s concert three years ago.

The back-to-back blockbuster performances by the Scorpions and Idol boosted fair attendance to more than 36,500 people on Friday and Saturday. More than 17,500 came on Friday and more than 19,000 on Saturday.
