REGISTER-GUARD: The effort to recall Rep. Val Hoyle has been dropped.

The move comes after Hoyle announced Tuesday that she’s stepping down as House majority leader to explore a run for Oregon secretary of state in 2016. Hoyle is not resigning her House seat, which includes parts of west Eugene and Junction City, in the meantime, however. Jason Thiesfeld, a co-owner of GunRunner Arms, said Wednesday that Hoyle’s announcement prompted him to abandon the recall effort just days before he had to submit more than 3,600 valid signatures to trigger the recall election. Thiesfeld announced the decision Tuesday evening in a Facebook post.

“We got what we wanted,” he said. “She won’t be representing the people of (House) District 14 anymore.”
