Prospective employees would not have to submit a drug test until after receiving a job offer under the legislation.

The bill would allow employers to test for pot after they offer someone a job as well as during employment. Because it’s a local law, it doesn’t apply to the federal government or to federal contractors.

The D.C. measure allows residents to possess up to two ounces and to grow up to three mature plants in their homes but does not allow commercial sales.
