A citizens’ initiative wants Oregon voters to decide on medical marijuana dispensaries.
Medical marijuana advocates have launched a citizens’ initiative to get the pot dispensaries issue on November’s ballot.
Supporters have until July to collect the required 82,769 signatures to put the issue before voters; 61,000 petition signatures were turned in on Monday.
Medical marijuana advocates are seeking to put on the November ballot a measure to create a system in which state-licensed pot growers would distribute their crops to dispensaries where people could buy the drug to treat their ailments.
Currently, those people either have an approved provider grow it for them or grow it themselves.
