Why did you spurn Silicon Valley for Portland?

We are super excited to grow our operations in Portland! Silicon Valley has been kind to us, but we felt like Portland’s small business friendly culture would be a better long-term fit for our business. inDinero has a chance of being one of Portland’s most exciting startups, and that means we can recruit the highest caliber of talent.

What do you expect will be the biggest adjustment as the company relocates from the Bay Area to Portland?

I think the biggest adjustment will be in terms of culture and the way we think about building our team. In San Francisco, we have a “take over the world” type of mentality. In Portland, we’ll be able to be more customer-focused and small business friendly. I think our mission and values will be easier to instill into our team.

What are the drawbacks of the traditional CPA model?

Too many to count — the traditional service model means inefficient work is being done, customers are billed by the minute, accountants don’t understand how to use the latest and greatest software, just to name a few of the many drawbacks.

How does InDinero correct the deficiencies of the current CPA model?

inDinero is the only company (that we know of) that completely takes on the accounting department for a business. We use software to automate away a lot of the inefficiencies of manual accountants, and that means higher quality work and a more scalable solution. Companies can grow on inDinero from as small as one employee to past 100, which is rarely the case in the traditional CPA model.

Why is your company called inDinero?

inDinero is a play on words and means “in the money”. (Dinero means money in Spanish).

And more importantly, we wanted to have a spunky name that shows that we aren’t your typical stodgy accounting firm.
