The “grand bargain” of tax increases and PERS cuts failed in the Oregon Senate.

Although the two bills still are alive, members got so cranky after the debate that Senate President Peter Courtney, D-Salem, cut short the afternoon session.

The legal deadline for adjournment is July 13.

Now, though, it appears lawmakers will end the session without a revenue-raising plan linked with a bill to further cut public pensions.
