The Oregon House is set to vote this week on bills that have sharply divided the majority Democrats from the minority Republicans.

House Bill 2456, as proposed by Democrats on the House Revenue Committee, would phase out deductions for single filers with more than $125,000 in adjusted gross income and joint returns with more than $250,000. Senate Bill 822, which passed the Senate on a party-line vote April 11, is likely to follow in the House. It proposes to pare $460 million from future payments to public retirees, and defer $350 million to the next budget cycle in anticipation of other action.
