Plans to reconstruct an unattractive, concrete-heavy and crooked intersection at the main entryway into the city’s historic downtown has some nearby business owners alarmed, prompting city and state Department of Transportation staff to set a public information session on the project for Wednesday.
A complex rebuilding and roadway realignment of the multiblock area around the intersection of Highway 99 and Main Street has been a longstanding goal of Cottage Grove officials, going back to a 2005 downtown revitalization plan, city planner Amanda Ferguson said.
