Reser’s submitted a $69.2 million bid to buy the assets of food brand Orval Kent and its parent company, Chef Solutions Inc. A Delaware bankruptcy court accepted the offer Tuesday afternoon.
The acquisition pushes Reser’s past the $1 billion revenue mark, making it one of Oregon’s largest privately held companies. The family owned brand makes prepared side dishes and dips under its own name and private labels.
Reser’s saw market potential in two of its former rivals, both struggling to absorb rising commodity prices. In September, it paid $18.25 million for fresh cut vegetable company Vaughan Foods Inc.
