1. Oregon faces a farm land crisis
A new report found the combination of aging farmers and skyrocketing land prices could jeopardize the farming industry. The Oregonian reports the state needs to step in now to prevent further erosion as out-of-state companies buy up land. For example, the state could work to connect local farmers looking to sell or buy property.
2. First fire testing on cross-laminated timber a success
The wood to be used in the Pearl’s Framework building burned for two hours and did not lose its structural integrity. The Portland Tribune reports the test results exceeded expectations. These findings could help push the CLT industry forward.
3. Registered Oregon voters hit new record
In the wake of one of the most controversial elections in history, more than 2.5 million people have registered to vote. The Register Guard reports this will be one of Oregon’s busiest elections. The Oregon Motor Voter program is set to add an additional 250,000 voters before the Nov. 8 election.
4. The Hillsboro Chamber’s 3rd Annual Manufacturers Summit takes place today
