Brown recently completed her three-year term as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Manufacturing in the U.S. Commerce Department.
Green Endeavor, a Portland-based company that provides environmentally-friendly solutions for industry, has hired Chandra Brown, former CEO of United Street Car and vice president of Oregon Iron Works, as its new president.
“Chandra’s experience within the manufacturing industry throughout the U.S. and around the world will be invaluable to our company,” said co-founder B. Scott Taylor, who will remain in his current position as CEO. “It’s a unique opportunity to take the company to the next level.”
Green Endeavor helps businesses replace toxic products with eco-friendly solutions. The company was founded in 2011 and now has about 100 customers ranging from Washman Carwash in Portland, Kellogg’s in Battle Creek, MI, and Vital FSM PetroCorp in Guam.
“What appeals to me about Green Endeavor is it cuts across a lot of industries.” Brown said. “I look forward to expanding upon the great work already started, and to increase global awareness of the importance of removing harmful chemicals from our environment and replacing them with cost-effective, environmentally sound solutions. There is incredible market potential.”

Green Endeavor has grown organically over the past three years, but growth has been slow, Taylor said. Along with Brown’s hire, the company is preparing a new strategic investment offering. The round is projected to be at least $2 million investment round.
A subsidiary of Oregon Ironworks, United Streetcar was the first company to make streetcars in the U.S. for 60 years. The company shut down in 2015.
