PORTLAND — Look out for the next generation of science entrepreneurs. Teams from two Oregon high schools — Summit High School in Bend and Philomath High School — showed off at a March science fair sponsored by the Portland-based Lemmelson Foundation, Portland State University’s Saturday Academy, and The National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance.

Philomath’s small-scale biodiesel reactor, designed for a farmer, received rave reviews from the judges as did a hybrid electrical generation unit from the Summit High team. Both teams were supported by grants from the Lemmelson Foundation, which believes in starting ‘em young when it comes to inventors.
