Positioning the facility to make the flash memory that powers iPods and digital cameras, Hynix Semiconductor announced plans for a $250 million upgrade to its Eugene plant, the South Korean company’s only U.S. site. Hynix officials made the move instead of expanding in China or Korea in part because of a personal visit from Gov. Ted Kulongoski to the company’s Korean headquarters. Hynix plans to add 100 employees as part of the overhaul.
