The 2007 State of Oregon Agriculture report gives the state’s ag industry a B+, saying sales for the sector have risen 35% over the last decade (the data covers 1995 to 2005, the most recent year for which numbers are available).

Net income per farm is up 166% from $10,250 per farm in ‘95 to $27,300 per farm in ‘05, according to the report released by the Oregon Department of Agriculture.

Employment in the sector expanded by 13,000 jobs, mostly due to growth in the nursery business. On the down side, food processing has lost nearly a quarter of its jobs (5,500) due to growing global competition. Farm-related payroll is up 47% to $608 million.
