JULY 2008: AROUND THE STATE

Angels arrive in the Gorge

HOOD RIVER A new angel investing conference will launch in September in Hood River. Christened the Gorge Angel Conference 2008, it’s the creation of the Hood River County Office of Economic Development, Oregon Entrepreneurs Network and several local partners. The event already has $70,000 from the Gorge Angel Investors Network and hopes to be at $100,000 before the Sept. 23 conference, according to Bill Fashing of the Hood River Office of Economic Development. Early-stage deals are preferred and companies should be seeking capital within the range of $100,000 to $1,000,000 and planning to locate in the Columbia River Gorge region. Just one company will get the full prize amount and Fashing says he expects about 10 companies to vie for the funding. For more information, go to gorgeangelconference.com. July 31 is the application deadline.
