JULY 2007: AROUND THE STATE, DISPATCHES

{safe_alt_text}ASHLAND

House Bill 3527, approved by the Legislature in early June, allows the Ariel Atom, a sports car manufactured by Brammo Motorsports, on the road. Starting next year drivers will be able to purchase a special registration tag limited to a 30-mile radius of the Brammo dealership or shop and a 90-mile radius of a racetrack. While the legislation will make things easier for Oregon owners of the Atom, of more importance to Ashland-based Brammo is that prospective buyers will be able to take a test drive. Out- of-state buyers from places like California, Washington and Arizona, where the cars are already street legal, also will be able to obtain a travel permit to drive the vehicle home.
