JULY 2007: AROUND THE STATE, DISPATCHES
ALBANY
PepsiCo has delayed plans to build a Gatorade plant in Albany.
The $250 million project would bring 200 new jobs to the area.
PepsiCo believes it can meet existing demand with existing
plants but has yet to make a final decision. The city has
already granted $2 million worth of contracts for water and
sewer to support the plant and those contracts will be
completed. Pending an evaluation of future needs, PepsiCo will
decide in September whether or not to proceed with the project.
If it cancels, the com- pany will
assume the costs of water and sewer contracts.
