JULY 2007: AROUND THE STATE, DISPATCHES
SISTERS
The newly expanded FivePine Lodge & Conference Center is
designed to be a vacation destination for Oregonians and
Europeans. Guests are encouraged to hop onto bicycles parked
outside the hotel and get acquainted with Sisters as more than
just a destination resort, according to owner Bill Willitts.
The 15-acre campus includes an athletic club, spa, movie house
and venues for outdoorsy activities. He expects the European
market will be receptive to the hiking and the local lifestyle,
and he’ll travel there later this year to survey the
market in person. FivePine recently added a $10 million
section of cottages and lodges that rent from $139 to $279 a
day, boasting some of the “most romantic rooms in the
state,” says Willitts. Future plans include a restaurant
featuring locally grown organic food and drink scheduled to
open this fall and vacation rental homes set to open in
2008.
