MAY 2007: DISPATCHES

{safe_alt_text} SALEM

Commercial air service is returning to Salem for the first time in more than a decade. Beginning in June, Delta Air Lines will run non-stop service between the capital and its Salt Lake City hub twice a day. To ease the slow startup period airlines usually experience when they enter a new market, nearly 100 Salem-area businesses offered to prepay for flights during the first year of service. To accommodate the new passenger service the recently expanded terminal is being remodeled, and parking lots are being expanded and resurfaced. Both runways have also recently been resurfaced and grooved.
