The Burns Paiute Tribe
of Eastern Oregon is looking further at building a casino
resort in the Ontario area. Malheur County judge Dan Joyce says
that while the county passed an exploratory resolution for the
development, he still has many questions that he would like to
see answered before the county would fully support a new
casino. “If it were on a ballot today, I would have to
vote ‘no’ given the information I have,”
Joyce says. If the tribe does go forward with an Ontario
casino, it would have to close its Old Camp Casino north of
Burns in Harney County.
