Microsemi’s Power
Products Group received a $1.8 million grant from the
U.S. Congress to develop silicon carbide semi-conductors for
military avionics. Silicon carbide has more power and a greater
heat capacity than traditional semiconductors. The group, owned
by Irvine, Calif.-based Microsemi Corportation, is known
for producing integrated circuits and semiconductors for
airplanes.
