Microsemi’s Power Products Group received a $1.8 million grant from the U.S. Congress to develop silicon carbide semi-conductors for military avionics. Silicon carbide has more power and a greater heat capacity than traditional semiconductors. The group, owned by Irvine, Calif.-based Microsemi Corportation, is known for producing integrated circuits and semiconductors for airplanes.
