BEND

Rising housing prices in Central Oregon have caused a labor shortage in Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties. Housing Works, a public corporation dedicated to providing affordable housing programs in Central Oregon, commissioned a report that estimates that 5,200 jobs are going unfilled in the area “due in part to the housing affordability crunch.” Central Oregon is expected to add 10,400 new jobs over the next three years, generating demand for about 6,600 additional workforce housing units.
