Real estate closings in Harney
County grew by nearly one-third in the first six months
of 2006, according to statistics released by the county. The
419 closings compare to 324 for the same period in 2005. The
increased activity results partly from a population increase,
reversing the trend of decreasing population from 2000 to 2005.
Real estate agents report a growing number of transplanted
retirees looking for homes.
